How long does roll insulation last?

Technically, roll insulation can last for around 80 years, however it is recommended to change it every 15-20 years. This is to stop mould and mildew forming in the insulation, which will make your loft damp and cause you problems in the long run.

If you notice your summer and/or winter energy bills are dramatically higher than those of previous years, it could be a sign that your insulation is losing its effectiveness. Without replacement, your insulation may eventually become useless altogether, or more harmful to your health. That is why we recommend replacing your insulation every 20 or so years.
